Lecture 2006
Healthy Ageing: Opportunities and Challenges in Cornwall
The Cornwall Lecture each year addresses themes of significance to Cornwall.

In 2006 it addressed the issue of health. Keith Hambly-Staite examined a number of success stories in the local health service and celebrated the hard work and innovation of 'the people of the health service in Cornwall'. Professor Paul Robertson recently appointed as Professor of Music and Medicine at the Peninsula Medical School in Truro played Bach's Chaconne and spoke on the relevance of music to life and our well being at every age. Professor Raymond Tallis examined the future of people 'growing older' and blew away many of the myths surrounding older age suggesting actions that could be taken to sustain active social and economic life for longer; an issue of great importance for Cornwall and other parts of the country with the changing age profile of the population.

Professor Colin Roberts, (Chair of the Cornwall Medi-Park Ltd, an innovation centre designed to nurture young businesses in the health sector) and Professor Paul Robertson were commissioned to write articles to accompany the Lecture on technology and the effect of music on our health.
